With 24+ years in the AV Industry, David Jasak has a long background as a true AV professional. Starting back when he was a teen, he exhibited a passionate interest in stereo systems and sound recording. This intense interest drove him to pursue an education in audio video and in 1984 he earned his BS degree in AV Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. After graduating, he relocated to California where he worked as an AV Technician for two large-scale AV staging companies. This gained him hands on experience and a comprehensive knowledge of video projection, audio engineering, large sound systems and stage lighting. He worked on trade shows for companies such as IBM, Intel, Apple Computer, MicroSoft, among others. He also worked on award ceremonies, concerts, theatrical shows, and high exposure business meetings and press conferences.

After 10 years in the commercial AV industry, David easily migrated to custom residential AV. Starting as an installation technician, he quickly moved up to lead technician and eventually system programmer. Having a vast knowledge of how systems operated and integrated with other sub-systems, he grasped the design process as a true natural. Learning multiple CAD programs, David developed a design process that was comprehensive yet easy to understand for even a novice installer. He learned that a detailed design installed faster and had less trouble shooting time at the finish-out and programming stages. This allowed the AV companies that he worked for an opportunity to install larger and more complex systems efficiently.

David’s designs have won industry recognized awards and have been published in such magazines as Architectural Digest, The Robb Report, Innovative Home, Austin Monthly and Home Entertainment. He has been fortunate enough to have worked on homes that belong to movie stars, sports figures, musicians and top management and CEOs of fortune 500 companies. He was one of the first people to obtain CEDIA’s Certified Professional Designer title which he has continued to update and hold to this day. He has recently gained CEDIA’s Registered Outreach Instructor certification and looks forward to educating the building industry about AV and home automation. With over 24 years working in the AV industry, David is a real industry leader.

Steve Wu

From his first job, Steve has always excelled in the AV field. Starting over 12 years ago, his internship building a recording studio gave him time to get his hands dirty wiring and terminating the many connections needed for a top-notch recording facility. After that he moved into custom home AV as a Project Detailer for a prestigious custom design/build firm where his acute technicality was utilized. After only two years, he was promoted to Project Engineer where he honed his CAD skills and built upon his already strong knowledge of AV, lighting and control systems. Once again, he was promoted to Engineering Department Manager and created various standards and procedures along with overseeing day to day operations of department staff. The company that he worked for over the years had grown, partially due to Steve’s dedication, knowledge and overall talent.

After working for the same company and living in the same area for eight years it was time for a change. Steve relocated to Austin Texas where, as fate would have it, started working for the same AV company where current associate, David Jasak was working. There they worked together for 3 years, collaborating and building a solid working relationship as a design team. This common interest and bond drove them to take all of their expertise and form one company dedicated to AV consultation and design excellence. AV Design Associates was born.

Steve’s designs have won industry recognized awards such as Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) awards for: Best Electronic House Level II $206,000 – 750,000, Best Integrated Home Level V $650,001 – 950,000, Best Home Theater Level VII $300,000 – 370,000. Along with these recognized awards His work has been published in Home Theater Interiors, Stereophile Guide to Home Theater, Audio Video Interiors, and Robb Report Home Entertainment. Steve’s impeccable attention to detail and ability to produce award winning designs have earned him recognition within the AV industry and is a valuable ally on any design project.
